New mini-roundabout in Beckenham.
Point of interest from 1:25.
The mini-roundabout that is coming up at around 1:25 is new as of about 2 weeks ago and clearly some road users haven't noticed the new road markings. This was the first time I had seen the new layout so I didn't know why the black car ahead had stopped but I know now that it was correctly giving way to the silver car on the right. That silver car didn't move so the black car gave up and moved on. I also stopped to give way but still the silver car was not interested. I understand that local drivers who are familiar with the roads might expect to do what they have always done and wait for a gap to turn onto the main road but isn't the big white dot on the ground ahead of them a give-away?
Another interesting point is that, according to the 2022 Highway Code changes, pedestrians should be given priority when crossing at all four entrances to the roundabout. Interestingly, Zebra crossings have been added on both sides across the major road. This is a possible solution suggested by @ashley_neal when the rules were relatively new (ua-cam.com/video/p9--M2jRxX8/v-deo.html).

Simon on micro:bit
Переглядів 2,9 тис.8 років тому
First showing of the fully built Simon game on micro:bit. There is a beep with lights but it isn't very loud - in fact, it is drowned out by the click of the buttons. I need to get a speaker rather than just using a piezo. Ideally there should be one power supply for both the LEDs (which require 12v) and the micro:bit (3v). It does have a voltage divider but it isn't working, possibly because t...
Dr Who Theme on micro:bits

The Dr Who Theme played using two micro:bits and Micro Python. Additional sound effects courtesy of the street outside. Yes, it is very quiet. Look at the size of the piezos. (or piezi?) They are tiny! It is hardly Mozart but I'm sure Delia Derbyshire should have approved. (If anyone is planning to restart the Radiophonic Workshop I'm right here!!!) Music copyright Ron Grainer (1964).
Simon Says micro:bit prototype version 2

Thanks to the release of the new version of MicroPython for the micro:bit I am able to add sound. Also, the more observant may be able to detect a subtle hint at the next step. For more information about MicroPython on the micro:bit, see ntoll.org/article/story-micropython-on-microbit
micro:bit Simon Says (Prototype)

Simon Says game using the micro:bit. Special thanks to Kitronik (www.kitronik.co.uk/) for the edge connector. I have four large buttons that light up but this is a prototype to test the code.
Transferring image between two micro:bits (with audio)

New version of the video showing an image being transferred from one micro:bit to another. Now with a soundtrack suggested by a colleague. (Thanks, Jon). The music is Left Bank Two by Wayne Hill, better known as the gallery music from the BBC show Take Hart, from the late 70s and early 80s.

Beautiful
This is gorgeous!
SO HELPFUL FOR PRACTICING
I wrote a violin obligado for this.
Beautiful arrangement. 😍 By C.V Stanford.
Wonderful. At last. Finally found it. Beautyful.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Lovely! My choir is stuck at home because of the pandemic, and at our next Zoom session we plan to sing along with you.
Can u give block code?
Sorry, it was a long time ago. I may have done it in Blocks but it would have been when you could log into the website and store programs there but it looks as though that is all gone now.
Singing is excellent as it brings the words out clearly. Mother choirs muffle the words.
Beautiful
Such a beautiful piece. St. Paul's Cathedral Namirembe in Uganda has done a Luganda adaptation of it a couple of times. You can hear it in the following video at 23:23 ua-cam.com/video/NIaj10TLcrA/v-deo.html
Are you the same Joseph Haig that used to make flash videos on Newgrounds.com ?
No, that's not me. I've never used Newgrounds.
Thanks for providing the score so we could sing along :)
Anyone notice the misspelling of "believed" ?? Unbeleivable ... ;-)
Would you beleive that in nearly 8 years and 90,000 views you are the first person to point that out? I had to watch it through myself to find it. :-)
@@JosephHaig Shall we offer this to Guinness as a world record? Working as a proofreader in a law firm and composing my own service-related songs/psalms were likely contributing elements. The piece was beautifully performed by the choir of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, Los Angeles during Communion yesterday and streamed live. It moved me to tears.
There's nothing wrong with the word believeth.
I have been searching for this arrangement by Stainer for years! It went out of print decades ago... Anyone have a resource???
Go to cpdl for free
Beautiful, indeed! I sang this with my boys' choir at St. Paul's Cathedral in Boston many years ago, but I didn't know until now that it was written by Sir John Stainer, famed for "God So Loved the World" (which we also sang) and the standard carolers' arrangement of "The First Nowell." This song may be his masterpiece. Thanks for posting!
So Beautiful!
in a Sixth grade choir, in a Lutheran congregation on Chicago's North side, I sang this with a group of children, thus engraving the words of John 3:16-17 into my indelible memory. Thanks be to God!
Ho Joseph, do you have some code and wiring to share ?
I did this a long time ago and I don't think I have the code any more. However, it is wasn't very complicated and in terms of wiring it is just four buttons and four LEDs.
Lovely Voices.. Good Job from Nairobi.
Thanks for Posting!!!! LOVE IT SO MUCH!! GOD BLESS.
Absolutely beautiful
It really is. I've known this piece all my life and always loved it, but when we hear one of these fine, beautifully trained English choirs bring out all the beauty in the Stainer's subtle harmonic changes this simple, seemingly modest piece becomes transformative. The power of Stainer's sincerity and complete devotion to his work was very great, indeed.
Very beautiful good 😍😍
Class of 1909. books.google.com/books?id=prPeAAAAMAAJ&pg=PA113&lpg=PA113&dq=high+school+commencement+1909+song&source=bl&ots=y5nmbjnd_J&sig=h3
Sometimes, I get the shivers hearing this song. You know these are the words of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. He was talking to Nicodemus, who had stole to Him at night to have an in-depth conversation with Him. Nicodemus wanted to know what it meant to be born again. You can read all about it in the fourth book of the New Testament, John (chapter 3).
Why not cut a ping pong ball in half to place over the lights, that would look good.
Now you just need a really really big box to put it in ;-)
Very cool, would be good to see the code, or an explanation of the setup to go with it once you've finished tinkering :)
Agreed
Have to sing this tomorrow. Thank you for the music and lyrics together. It's deceptively simple. The entries are quite tricky.
Very helpful vidoe!! ua-cam.com/video/DW4LZqYLM28/v-deo.html
Where did you get this edition of the music?
I transcribed it myself using Lilypond and you can find it here: github.com/jrmhaig/music
This is amazing! Thank you so much!
Moving masterpiece!
Ciao Carlo! Grandissimo pezzo mi piace
It was great being able to listen and follow the music this morning. We are having the piece this morning and I am singing tenor, very helpful to revise!!
Thanks Joseph, you music posted help me a lot! We are South Main Baptist Church in Mid-town, Houston TX.
My Grandmothers favorite song. We should all remember that no greater love has than to lay down his life for another. This applies to all men, and surpasses religion.
Finally caved in and linked my UA-cam account with my Google+ account. I suppose I should do the 'Google' think and share these here now.
Thankyou. I sang it at school in quite an accomplished "Madrigal Group" many years ago, always loved it but current church choir master thinks it's too ambitious for us. You may well know it if not I urge you to listen to it on UA-cam: beautiful.
I am glad you find it useful. Unfortunately, the videos I make are determined by recordings I can get of my choir so that particular piece is unlikely as it isn't in our repertoire and I don't know if our musical director has it in mind.
This is so helpful for an amateur like me learning the alto part. Any chance you can do "Look Down O Lord", Byrd?
